4A: Boys Track & Field Preview
Tobias Merriweather (Union) has let us know the sprint king will be returning to defend his crown! Will the 100, 200, & 400-meter podium look different in 2022?
“Keeping the crown where it belongs!”

In the 800, 1600, & 3200 meter returning is last year’s champ Evan Jenkins (Camas) looking to end his high school career with more medals around his neck before he heads off to the University of Washington to compete at the next level. For the 110 & 300 meter hurdles we could see a new face atop the podium, will it be Jonathan McAtee (Skyview) or Benjamin Haywood (Union). The relays should be a tight contest as always, which team will put together the best combination in the 4×100 & the 4×400 only time will tell.
Discus we see the former league leader Hunter Greene (Camas) returning but will an extra year under Ty Evan’s (Skyview) belt prove to be enough to surpass the only person to best him last season. As well with Shotput returning and leading the way Hunter Greene but just 2.75 separated him and his rival Joel Lee (Union). For the final throwing event, we look to see who will claim the Javelin Joel Lee looks to claim the top after placing 3rd last year, the two ahead of him have graduated and opened the door for him to win it all.
In Hopsville we have Benjamin Haywood returning the High Jump champ as a freshman returns to defend his title. But teammate Hayden Day (Union) and rivals Hudson Schneider & Clark Dinh (Camas) look to make up the 1-2 inch difference that set them apart. Long Jump Mr.Haywood looks to continue his reign as well though a few teammates look to challenge him we could see the darkhorse in Michael Kennedy (BG) leap to the front of the pack to overtake last year’s champ. Pole Vault we will certainly see a new league leader as the top-3 have graduated and moved on we are left with Brody Larson (BG) & Isaiah Lewis (Skyview) as the only remaining to clear 12feet to battle for 1st. Rounding out the final jumping events in the Triple Jump Hudson Schneider shared the crown but his co-champ has since graduated leaving him to either claim sole possession or possibly be surpassed by Matthew Zeamer (Camas) or Michael Kennedy (BG). One thing is certain this year we expect to see new faces and we are in for an exciting track season for the 4A league.
