3A Track & Field Ladies Season Preview:

3A Track & Field Ladies Season Preview:

Sprinters – Kara Mattson (Prairie) is entering her final track season and has already set herself apart from the field. This season is shaping up to look how FAR she can finish above the others in the 100 & 200 meter. Continuing the dominance theme in the 400 meter Morgan Hill (Prairie) had already beat everyone by about 2 seconds and looks to repeat this year. In the 800 meter & 1600 meter Jazmine Bates (Mt. View) will be chased by a field of Prairie runners as she looks to retain her titles in both events. Rounding out the distance running events Suzie Johnson (Prairie) looks to top her outstanding 12:21 PR that she set last season in the 3200 meter. This brings us to Hurdles as previously mentioned Kara Mattson the dominant sprinter also looking to bring home the gold in the 110 & 300 meter hurdles at she has a sizeable gap against the field.

Relays as always could be any teams for the taking as it will depend upon returners, new members and the chemistry from team-to-team.

Throwers – Keanna Salavea (Heritage) is primed to take over in the Shotput with a sizeable distance amongst the returning athletes. For the Discus Hanna Kuhn (Kelso) is aiming for the top of the podium being the only athlete to break 90ft last season. Returning in the Javelin is the CHAMP Erin Tack (Kelso) who won it all last season & looks to repeat the success she saw last season.

Jumpers – With the High Jump likely missing Natalie Fraley (Kelso) due to her injury late in the basketball season we should expect to see Ilia Field (Heritage) looks to cease the moment. For the Long Jump Kara Mattson (Prairie) looks to repeat and possibly break 18ft this season & REPEAT in the Triple Jump as well hoping to break 38ft. Lastly, Rielee Gourde (Kelso) looks to own the Pole Vault once again as she has been unmatched by the competition.

Look out for an entertaining Track & Field season for the Ladies in 3A GSHL.
